It is natural to go through ups and downs in life. Sometimes you bounce right back when you are feeling down. Other times, you may need help to recover and return to feeling like your usual self. Mental health can be seen as a continuum where you can move among varying states of well-being. An individual viewed as healthy and adaptive may experience normal fluctuations in mood, but can remain calm and take things in stride, and experiences few sleep difficulties. At the most serious end of the mental health continuum, clinical disorders can be identified and may include anxiety, becoming easily angered, depression, suicidal thoughts, sleeping too much or too little, exhaustion, physical illness, isolation, and addiction.

Concerns such as anxiety, depression, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and even suicidal thoughts can be associated with vision loss. If you experience these or similar symptoms, you should seek a mental health consultation and follow your health care provider’s recommendations, with the end goal of regaining physical and mental health.

VisionCorps is in partnership with TW Ponessa & Associates Counseling Services, which serves Lancaster, Chester, Lebanon, and York counties. Please contact your case manager if you would like assistance in contacting them or another mental health care provider.
