Early detection of certain types of childhood eye problems can prevent permanently decreased vision and make a big difference in the life of a child.
Because children often can’t tell you when they are having difficulty seeing, our KidSight program addresses these concerns by providing FREE vision screenings to preschool-aged children in Chester, Lancaster, Lebanon and York and Adams Counties.
These preventative vision screenings are designed to be quick and effective. We use the Spot™ Vision Screener, a handheld camera that is able to scan both eyes from a few feet away. If a possible problem is detected, a referral will be made for an eye doctor’s visit where they will do a comprehensive eye exam. KidSight screens more than 7,000 children annually.
DURING THE PANDEMIC, we are able conduct the screenings safely by wearing masks and staying several feet apart from the children.
KidSight screenings are supported by donations from our community.
