Early detection of certain types of childhood eye problems can prevent permanently decreased vision and make a big difference in the life of a child.
Because children often can’t tell you when they are having difficulty seeing, our KidSight program addresses these concerns by providing FREE vision screenings to preschool-aged children in Chester, Lancaster, and Lebanon Counties.
These preventative vision screenings are designed to be quick and effective. We use the Spot™ Vision Screener, a handheld camera that is able to scan both eyes from a few feet away. If a possible problem is detected, a referral will be made for an eye doctor’s visit where they will do a comprehensive eye exam. KidSight screens more than 5,000 children annually.
In York County, KidSight is supported by the United Way of York County.
